For Immediate Release

Point Reyes, CA (January 15, 2019)

The first cheese made by Point Reyes Farmstead, the iconic Original Blue, along with the company’s newest cheese, traditional Gouda, both won prestigious Good Food Awards at this year’s gala event in San Francisco on January 11th. In fact, Point Reyes Farmstead, now in its 18th year, was the only recipient in the cheese category to garner two of the winning recognitions.

In advance of the Specialty Food Association’s Winter Fancy Food Show, the nation’s leading food crafters, grocers, chefs, journalists and activists gathered on Friday night at the Awards Ceremony to honor this year’s 220 Good Food Awards winners. An annual recognition program now in its ninth year, the Good Food Awards celebrates American food and drink crafters who demonstrate a commitment to creating tasty, authentic and responsible products and in doing so, bettering our nation’s food system. Each of the 2019 winners demonstrates both a mastery of their craft and a commitment to maintaining exceptionally high social and environmental standards in their work.

About Point Reyes Farmstead Cheese Company
In 1959 Bob and Dean Giacomini established their successful dairy farm just north of Point Reyes Station in Marin County, CA. In 2000, together with their daughters, the family began making hand-crafted cheese on the farm with milk from their own herd of Holsteins. In 2010, they opened The Fork, a culinary and educational center, offering farm-to-table educational experiences for both consumers and the trade. In 2018, now 100% Women-Owned by sisters Diana, Lynn and Jill, the company expanded to Petaluma, with the opening of a second creamery, warehouse and distribution center. The Point Reyes Farmstead product line consisting of Fresh Mozzarella, Toma, Bay Blue, Gouda and Original Blue, is available at independent cheese shops and specialty grocers, at The Fork, local-area farmers’ markets and online at www.pointreyescheese.com.
