burger with melted toma, pickles, avocado, tomato on a seeded bun

California Toma Burger

Servings: 4 burgers

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 4 everything ciabatta rolls or burger buns
  • Slice avocado
  • Sliced tomato
  • Sliced red onion
  • Dill pickle slices
  • ¼ cup Dijon mustard
  • 4 ounces shredded Point Reyes Toma

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef with salt and pepper. Mix together with clean hands. Form beef into four patties.
  2. Prepare gas or charcoal grill. Place patties on heated grill and cook for about 3 minutes. Flip burger and cook for another 3-4 minutes. (Cook longer for a more well done burger.) Alternatively, burgers can be cooked on the stove in a cast-iron or non-stick pan over medium heat.
  3. To assemble burgers, spread Dijon on inside of top bun. Place sliced avocado, sliced tomato and red onion on bottom bun. Follow with burger patty, Toma and pickles before topping with top bun.
  4. Serve immediately.
