Award Winning Summer for Point Reyes Farmstead Cheese Company

 

BEST OF SHOW (and more!) at 2018 California State Fair Cheese Competition in Sacramento, CA Four medals at 2018 American Cheese Society Annual Judging & Competition, Pittsburgh, PA

 

 

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Point Reyes, CA (August 6, 2018) – Point Reyes Farmstead Cheese Company had a banner Summer, to say the least.

  • On Thursday June 21st in Sacramento, CA, for the third year in a row, the company was awarded the California State Fair’s top award: Best in Show Cows’ Milk Cheese, --this year for Gouda. Gouda also won the top award in the Hard Cheese Category. Additionally, the company’s Bay Blue won Silver in the Semi-Soft Cheese Category and Toma won Gold in California Originals.
  • On Friday July 27th in Pittsburgh, PA at the American Cheese Society’s Annual Judging & Competition, the company took home four medals. Toma earned Silver in the American Originals Category. Mozzarella, California Coastal Blue and Pimento Cheese all won Bronze.

“We couldn’t be prouder of the recognition our cheeses have earned this Summer” said Diana Giacomini, Co-Owner/CFO. Lynn Giacomini, Co-Owner/COO added, “In January we opened our second creamery, about 30 minutes away from the farm. These awards reflect the hard work and commitment we put into maintaining quality while adopting new systems and adapting to new equipment. We’re making more cheese than ever in order to expand our national sales presence. The wins will certainly help us spread the word.”

In 2000, together with their daughters, the family began making hand-crafted cheese on the farm with milk from their own herd of Holsteins.
