Women's History Month 2023

Women’s History Month began 40 years ago in Santa Rosa, California, with a single week in March. We are proud that this celebratory occasion was initiated in our backyard, mere miles from our Petaluma production facility. Today, it is a month-long remembrance and celebration of the legacy of resilient women who have confronted adversity and paved the way for women’s equity. In 2019, Point Reyes Farmstead Cheese Company was awarded official certification from The Women's Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC). The largest certifier of business owners and entrepreneurs, they also granted us Women-Owned Small Business (WOSB) certification. Throughout the month, we will be spotlighting women-owned businesses which have created products that we love. We invite you to join us in raising a glass (or perhaps a wedge of cheese!) to women entrepreneurs everywhere because from our perspective, women who support other women are the very best kind, and there is always room at the table for greatness!


As a women-owned company we are proud to have a team of over 60% females (not counting our gorgeous bovines who work hard for us every day producing the best quality milk to make our award-winning cheeses)! We see the benefits of having strong women leaders and team members to offer their expertise, share innovative ideas, implement new and improved practices, teach by example and train with heart. The ladies of PRFC are empowered to make decisions and be part of the strategic conversation while maintaining necessary focus on work/life balance.


We realize that the success of being a women-owned business goes well beyond making great artisan cheese. We are committed to leveraging our Cheese Cares platform to support organizations that share our values and represent causes we believe are important and worthy. In honor of Women’s History Month, we have created a very special gift pack showcasing a few of the women-owned brands we love. Proudly, a percentage of proceeds from the The Women's History Month Collection will be going to Planned Parenthood. We believe that women’s access to reproductive healthcare is a human right. As a brand built by women, with a workforce of over 60% women, we stand with Planned Parenthood and the necessary services they provide.
